Country Fried Steak
Ingredients:
1 lb cube steak, or tenderized eye round
½ cup Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free All Purpose Flour
2 eggs
1 ½ cups milk
1 cup chicken or beef stock
Onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and a touch of cayenne to season the flour
Kosher salt to taste
Freshly cracked black pepper to taste
¼ cup oil for frying (your preference!)
Start by seasoning the Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free All Purpose Flour to your liking. Whisk together the two eggs and a half cup of the milk, and season with kosher salt. Make sure the steaks are at room temperature and patted dry. Begin the dredging process: into the seasoned flour, then the egg mixture, then one more time into the seasoned flour. Reserve the flour for later.
Preheat a cast iron skillet with your preferred oil for frying. Cook the steaks about two minutes per side until golden brown. Reserve the oil, and add the leftover dredging flour and whisk to make a roux. Gradually pour in the cup of stock, and then whisk in the remaining cup of milk. Season with a good amount of kosher salt and a copious amount of cracked black pepper.
Serve together with your favorite side dishes and enjoy!
